Bouncing Back To Work

So I’ve been MIA for more than a few days.  Going back to work has really taken a toll on me.

I have been pretty exhausted going back to work.  I got far too used to staying up late and sleeping in late with Emily.  So I have been trying to get myself used to getting up early and getting to bed early at night.  It hasn’t gone so well yet but I’m hoping to figure out a system that works for me.

Pat’s visit was great.  We didn’t do anything extraordinary but Pat got to spend a lot of time with the kids which was the point!  She was also around for my first day back at work which was nice because Emily had a particularly fussy day. =(

Going back to work wasn’t as traumatic for me as I was expecting.  It is very comforting for me that Emily is just at home with her Daddy instead of in a daycare center.  I just feel like she is still too young to be in a daycare.

It has been a little rough for Evan with me returning to work though.  Emily was quite used to having me around.  She has had a very hard time napping while I’m at work and therefore ends up being overtired and not being able to sleep at all.  It gets very frustrating for everyone since I am not there to try to calm her or give Evan a break.  She seems to be getting a little more used to things after this second week (which is now a third week since I took so long to finish this post!) and will hopefully continue to improve.

Austin has been doing well.  We recently switched his daycare schedule again so that he is there for 1/2 days Monday through Thursday.  It is still less than the 3 days a week we had him scheduled but he gets to be there for all of the learning activities.  The daycare does all the structured learning time in the morning.  It is nice for Austin to still be getting that in preparation for Kindergarten in the fall.

Emily has also gotten so much bigger in the past couple of weeks.  Her 3-6 months clothes are already getting tight and she is moving into some 6-9 month stuff.  It is amazing how much she is changing.  She recently acquired enough head control to be propped upright.  We took advantage of that and set up her Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Jumper.  It is really cool.  It works out well for her to be able to bounce like a classic “Johnny Jump-Up” but since none of our doorways have any trim we would have nowhere to install one.  Plus this has the added benefit of her not accidentally bouncing into the wall while playing!

This week has brought with it a whole new slew of activity but I will save that for another post.  As always, more pictures!

Just Emily

Just Austin

Since I never got any pictures of the actual baby shower, here is at least a picture of the awesome diaper cake my mom made me!  It was beautiful.  I was so sad to have to finally take it apart last week to use the diapers!!

Umm…is that really my baby?!  When did this happen?  What happened to my little baby?

Daddy and Daughter…aww

Right before the first time in her jumper.

She likes it more than it looks like in this picture!

Why pay for baby Mylicon drops when we can just do this?

I highly recommend this move…we clearly get great results!!

Daddy got a chance to try out the Moby on a family walk.  How cute is that?

Austin found lots of great “treasures” to throw down the drainage grates.  The rocks make especially satisfying “plunk”-ing sounds!

Just a fun family photo.  Emily is there on Daddy…you just can’t see her in this one.

Until next time!
